Robots Loading & Unloading A Forging Press

In this application we use a pair of robots to load and unload red hot rail retaining clips, used in the rail sector to retain track sections, to and from a forging press, which is a very hot and unpleasant task for an operator

This application is an excellent example of how robots are able to operate within an environment which is both arduous and dangerous for human operators.

One robot picks the clips from the furnace and places them into the press, and the second robot picks them out of the press and places them into an oil quench bath. The overall cycle time is 3 seconds per clip.
