Robotic 3D Bin Picking
3D Bin Picking
This robotic 3D vision bin picking cell was supplied to a leading Tier-1 manufacturer of commercial drivetrain systems. The system picks raw components at the start of a production cycle, laser marking and palletising them.
System Description
The solution supplied by Premier Automation comprises of an ABB robot and a magnetic gripping system, paired with the Keyence CV-X480D 3D vision-guided bin picking system.
Components are fed into the system scattered and in random orientations in a large wooden bin. The 3D bin picking vision system takes a 3D image of the components, requiring no mechanical orientation, sorting, or feeding to pick them.
The magnetic gripper allows picking from a large variation of orientations, a picked component is taken to a datum station, before being re-picked and loaded to a Keyence MD-X laser marker.
Once the laser mark is confirmed via code reader, the parts are then placed into an nested pallet, to be taken via AGV to the next step in production.
